I'm new here and have never owned a Toshiba laptop.
    I'm thinking of buying a Satellite A300-047 laptop. I saw it for $599 (Canadian$)
It has C2Duo 6400, 3MB RAM, HDMI, Vista etc

I noticed that the laptop runs a bit hot. the vent on th side was blowing hot air and also noticed that the area around the touch pad was also getting hot, where the HD is. The room was cool.
I could not find any review on this model.
It's a very attractive laptop but I'm a bit hesitant because of the heat issue.
    Your feedback is appreciated :D

Instead of getting the older A300, you might want to consider the A500.

And I don't see why that model would run hot, mine runs extremely cool for a laptop it's size.

EDIT: Just had a look at the specifications, and I see it's the model with integrated graphics. Are you doing anything on your computer that would require a good GPU? Like gaming?

Not planing on doing any gaming on it.
I could not understand either, why it would run hot. The room temp was cool.
I put my hand to the side and it was blowing hot air. also my palm on top of the HD was warm. I had a Gateway 6500 and it run super cool. I expected the Toshiba to run cool for being a 6400.
I'm in CDN and there are no good deals on Toshiba A500. Unless I go South of the border shopping.

Should be a fine notebook then. But if you are really concerned with heat, then take a look at other laptops in your range, such as the Dell Inspiron, etc.
