I have a slight problem. The other day while using my laptop in a very hot classroom (~85*F), I could tell my computer was getting very hot so I shut it down after using it for about an hour.

Today, while typing this, when I gripped the left side laptop with my left hand to steady it, I noticed it making a creaking sound like an old door opening. There are no problems with the video card or sound card. I just hope nothing chips or breaks off.

I just downloaded CPUID Hardware Monitor 1.13 and it said that today (room temp of 70*F ((21*C) )that my Intel T6400 CPU Cores were 66*C and 65*C. That doesn't sound too normal for Core 2 Duos. I'm already blown canned air inside to clear the dust. Now its idling in the mid 50s *C. Also, the ACPI temp was 59*C and HDD temp 48*C.

I am no tech person but, have you messed around with your bios ? If you have cranked up your CPU, that could be the case.

nope. The Toshiba A305 series don't overclock (at least in the bios). However, I'm considering trashing vista and Norton 360 v2 and putting XP Media Center 2005 and Kaspersky Internet Security on my lappy. Maybe a combination of the two were causing the problem.

Hi-Five. I am hoping to switch over sometime in the summer. The way XP costs still, it's nuts. You can buy Vista cheaper than XP. :twitchy:

If all things go well in the next few months, I'll buy XP and get my computer technician to do it for free for me hopefully. I hate doing stuff to my computer! :)
