    Satellite L515-S4008

Anyone here got one of these or know of any reviews of it?

The pic on Amazon shows silver colored palmrest area, while the pics on NewEgg shows black textured (non-glossy) palmrest. Ain't on the Toshiba site, but similar 4010 has silver palmrest (which I don't like).

Newegg is notorious for posting the incorrect photos of products in their descriptions and even place a disclaimer admitting to such.

If you go the the Toshiba Support Portal and enter in the model number then go to the Product Tour you can see what it is supposed to look like. It appears to be either silver or light grey to me.

Thanks. The Toshiba Support Portal Product Tour page shows pics of a "L510 Series" with a silver palmrest area and silver keyboard. Incidentally, the pic on CNET shows it like this too. But the pic on Amazon has a silver palmrest and black keyboard, and the pic on NewEgg is all black. So it could just be that Toshiba doesn't have any pics of the L515-S4008 on their website. They do have pics of the similar L515-S4010 which looks exactly like the pic on Amazon.

Also, the Toshiba Support Portal PDF detailed specs sheet for the L515-S4008 states "Black finish", but who knows whether that refers to the exterior or interior, or both.

If the thing is actually as pictured on NewEgg I might be interested, but with this much discrepancy between sources, I wouldn't want to take a chance on that. (That's why I was wondering if someone who actually owned one could verify.)

One thing I have noticed with Toshiba's is that a specific model number might not all be exactly the same. We have two Best Buy's where I live and they both had the exact same model on display. The internal specs were the same, but one had a black keyboard and one had what I would call a brushed aluminum or stainless steel keyboard. With Toshiba there is no telling what you might get.

Not a surprise, Toshiba sells the Satellite L510 (virtually identical to the L515) in different colors depending on region. In Hong Kong for example, we get five colors to choose from: matte black, precious black, luxe white, red, and silver.

Possibly then, the L515 pictured on NewEgg is a Hong Kong matte black version, so what you'll actually get is anybody's guess.

Just saw this at a local Office Depot store today:

Toshiba Satellite L515 S4010 14 Widescreen Notebook Computer With Intel Pentium Processor T4400 by Office Depot

What I saw on display in the store was identical to the one pictured on NewEgg with the black matte/textured finish, except of course that it is the "S4010" instead of "S4008". Interesting. I guess I'd have to open one of the boxes to make sure that what's inside is the same as what's on display. Not sure I even want this one though. I'd prefer something smaller actually.
