I bought a Toshiba Satellite M100-ST5111 in September and sold it on Ebay a month later when I received a notebook from my employer. The buyer just got around to giving it to somebody for Christmas, and he is claiming that it wouldn't boot out of the box, that is has crashed. He is also claiming that he doesn't have the recovery disk, which I am 100% certain that I mailed with the notebook.
How do I go about getting him a recovery disk? I can't seem to find anybody selling one online for this exact model. I registered it with Toshiba when I bought it. Can he call Toshiba and get technical support, or is that something I would have to do? I'm in Japan and he is in the States, so I would not have the notebook in front of me if I called for tech support.
I can't afford the refund...HELP!
Thanks,
Eric

He is probably going to need to contact Toshiba (assuming he transfered the ownership)...unless you can contact them yourself and get the discs. There is no way to get them otherwise.
If you can prove you sent the discs, he is out of luck as far as a refund goes. Honestly, it sounds like he broke it and/or used it as long as he intended to and wants $$$ back. -
That's what I'm thinking. I've learned the hard way that other people can't be trusted, especially buyers on Ebay!

Ok, now the buyer is saying this:
"Hello, i have the recovery cd, But i need the windows cd,If you dont mind calling me so we can talk? 1 603 616 xxxx, thank you."
So I guess he found the recovery CD. But the Windows CD??? I'm pretty sure I did not get one with the notebook. Toshiba only includes the recovery disk, right? Not sure what he wants. The recovery CD should reinstall Windows, right? -

It's very unlikely that the laptop shipped with a Windows CD. The recovery CD should work.
A tip from someone who has had problems with stuff shipped on ebay proving to be faulty when sent perfectly fine:
Be very VERY careful! Give the guy assistance and try your very best to resolve the issue. If it goes to paypal they will most lilely side with the buyer becuse they're ****ers and they... basically I hate them. Not wishing to worry you but just be careful. -
I hear that! I've had problems before with people saying they did not purchase an item and that somebody used their credit card fraudulently. They receive it, leave positive feedback, then file a claim months later. Paypal, whom I also despise, is SO QUICK to take my money. Then I'm out the item and the money. Man, they have buyer protection, but no seller protection.
If this guy files, they'll ask for proof that he returned the item to me. He can send them a delivery confirmation number, and then they'll close the issue and give him his (my) money back. When, in reality, he could just be sending an empty envelope to anybody in my zip code!
