    Hi,

    I'm having trouble with my laptop Satellite M40 on Shutting down process, and sometimes also on windows start up, and i believe it is BIOS related.


    When i start up my laptop, sometimes (not always) i get an error message in a blue screen saying that my BIOS is not completly compatible with ACPI... i reboot, and if i wait a while, the system will start up normally, but if i just reboot imediatly it will retrieve the same message.

    it also happens, sometimes, that the computer doesn't goes further the opening message in the black screen: in touch with tomorrow: toshiba


    The other problem, which i don't know if it's related or not, is that the computer doesn't shutdown or reboot. I have to do it pressing the button for a while. i thought it was some application i had in my system that was causing this, but i've just formatted the hard drive, and the same errors are still going on...


    when it is shutting down, it just stops on the message: "Windows is shutting down...."


    I have upgraded my BIOS with the new one available for download here at toshiba support, and i believe that was the trigger to all this problems... now i just don't know how to go back, or even if that is the reason.


    i realy hope someone here can help me, because i just searched all the information related on the internet with no success.

    Was your BIOS and your system operating working properly before this BIOS flash? If yes, my advice to you in the future would be to not flash the BIOS unless you must. I learned that the hard way, but I was able to fix it myself. You may ultimately have no choice but to send it to Toshiba for repair.

    According to this thread on Toshiba's forums, downgrading the BIOS is not an option without sending the laptop to Toshiba.

    So really your only possible solution is to find a newer BIOS version and flash it again (which is what I did).
