Just got my laptop a little bit ago and thought I would share some very premature first impressions.

Build quality seems OK to me and it is very light for 1 17" laptop.

Seems to run very cool compared to others I have used.

Keyboard seems OK but will take some getting used to.

The think right now disturbing me is there is light leakage on the bottom of my screen especially the left corner that makes the wallpaper bleed through as if the taskbar is semitransparent. Do not have this problem on my old Gateway that I am typing on right now. Anyone else have this problem.

Also my white backgrounds for folders seem grainy and washed out to me.

Will keep you updated but would appreciate any input. Thanks.

Put the specs of your new P100 in your sig so we can see exactly what you got. Try lightly massaging that part of the screen to see if you can get the bleeding to go away. Post a picture if you can, so we can see exactly what that bleeding looks like.

You got your P100 pretty quickly. I remember you ordered yours on 8/25. Mine took exactly 2 weeks (ordered on 7/31, received on 8/14).

Look at the bottom part of your speakers carefully. I know they light up with the P105-S921, but ours also look like they also have LEDs in them. Maybe there's a way to turn them on?

    Just a note:
If you have an external HD that automatically turn on when you power up your laptop like the 'My Book' made by Western Digital...this may cause your OS not to boot completely when you have the fingerprint reader turned on.

Thanks for your input again. Regarding picture, my camera takes pics several MB's in size so I don't know where I could post this sized picture and how to link it to my post in this forum.

But, my point about the bleeding is it is pronounced in the lefter corner and goes all the way across the bottom. Even when you open various apps, you can see the light bleeding through making the backgrounds and various documents appear much brighter at the bottom and washed out. Said think is, now if I decide to return this laptop, i get hit with 15% restocking fee from Toshiba on a cuastomized laptop. With I had known this little detail before ordering but I was told over the phone by an "informed" rep that I could get a full refund. Anyway, Thanks to all and am glad this machine is working out for all of you. Again, except for the bleeding, I don't have any major beefs with this laptop.

You have 15 days from the time you received your laptop to get a full refund. It does sound like you have a defective screen. That was one of my worries when I first opened the box.

The toshiba Customer Support rep plainly told me today over the phone that it would be a 15% restocking fee if I returned in even within the 15 days. This is true for all customized laptops. Will check with someone else tomorrow and hope they are wrong but either way, will return it because I will not settle for a screen like this. And, if they do charge the restocking fee as she said was indicated in the terms of sale, I of course will never buy Toshiba again.

No one's fault here. I do love this forum and the good advice given by all. Thanks.

This is a quote from the terms of sale on Toshiba site.

"After receipt and inspection of the returned products, credit will be issued in accordance with the following:

Standard products are eligible for refund or replacement.

Custom configured Toshiba branded products are eligible for refund, subject to a 15% restocking fee, or replacement."

You can find it here and maybe it will help someone else in the future.
