Thanks for any suggestions. I'm looking at the P100 and the Tecra A7. The credit voucher is a result of the 5105 lawsuit and expires next week. I would sell it but only I can use it. I like the screen on the P100 and the build of the A7.

    1) What is your budget?

    $1500 toshiba credit voucher plus $200 = $1700

    2) What size notebook would you prefer?

    d. Desktop Replacement; 17"+ screen

    3) What tasks will you be performing with the notebook?

Photography. Massive amounts of Photoshop work and batch processing. Web surfing.

    4) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places or leaving it on your desk?

It will travel with me but I don't mind heavy notebooks.

    5) Will you be playing games on it; if so, which games?

No, I have GTA but haven't played it in years.

    6) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?

    It has to be Toshiba.

    7) How many hours of battery life do you need?

    The more the better.

    8) Do you mind buying online without seeing the notebook in person?

    Yes.

    9) Please select your country's flag as a post icon and tell us what country are you buying this in?

    U.S.A.

    Screen Specifics

    10) Would you prefer standard or widescreen?

    Widescreen

    11) From the choices below, what screen resolutions would you prefer?

    b. SXGA - 1400x1050 - Compromise resolution between XGA and UXGA.
    e. WSXGA+ - 1680x1050; Wider viewing version of SXGA, good for movie viewing or spreadsheets.
    f. WUXGA - 1920x1200; Wider viewing version of UXGA, good for movie viewing or spreadsheets.

    12) Do you want a glossy/reflective screen or a matte/non-glossy screen?

    glossy/reflective screen

    13) Are the notebook's looks and stylishness important to you?

    Of course!

    14) When are you buying this laptop and how long do you want this laptop to last?

    5 years

    Notebook Components

    15) How much hard drive space do you want; 40GB to 120GB?

    100GB

    16) Do you need an optical drive? If yes, a DVD-ROM, DVD-CD/RW or DVD-RW drive?

    multi-drive

    Thanks again for any suggestions.

I'd go for the P100 - configure it with the SXGA screen and you're set for Photo Editing. The A7 will get better battery life and will be more portable and is built slightly better as it is a business line though.

Oh, and can you tell me about that $200 voucher thing - I had a 5105 notebook that blew up, but Toshiba didn't tell me anything about it.

Sorry, a mistake, it is actually a 5005 series credit voucher. The only problem I have with the P100 is that it's pretty big for traveling but the 17' screen just might be worth lugging it around.
