Had this a few days and for my 1st pc in a couple of years I'm quite impressed.
Playing dvd's the screen is brighter, sharper and has better colour than my friends' Hypersonic. But in scenes of darkness or concert lighting where there's little natural/white light it's not as defined as another friends' Dell xps.
Is this contrast issue comon?
The sound is fantastic.I almost opted for the XPS for the sub,but this sounds brilliant.
Can you recommend a guide or tips to gettig the best out of this system. My last pc was a P3-500/Win98 so this P4-3.46/WinXP is all new territory.
Lastly I'd like to run WWII flying sims such as IL2.As the HD is 4200 rpm would you suggest replacing it or using an external faster drive.
Thanks in advance for any comments.

A faster internal drive will make your notebook noticeably faster. Take the old drive and put it in an external usb case for the extra storage you need. Speed isn't essential for storage. Good Luck.

So I'm definitely better off with another hard drive? Should I replace it,or as a simpler solution will an external with firewire do the job.
Thx -
You will see an increase in performance with a faster hard drive. Whether you want to spend the extra cash on that is up to you. I mentioned an external usb case because that is the cheapest option for extra storage.

Thanks for the tips.I was planning on having another external drive anyway.
Just to be clear am I better to have a faster HD installed,or will I get the same benefit from an external through firewire.
Sorry to be a pain, but this is all relatively new to me.
My only reason (so far) for this is I'd like the best performance capabilities for running flight sims.I have a 3.46 chip,128 video and 1G ram,but I'm thinking the 4200 HD might be the weak link.
Thanks again. -
No you won't get the same benefit by buying an external firewire drive. To see an overall increase in performace, the drive has to be the drive that laptop boots off. You won't boot of the external drive.

Could it be I'm the only one that bought this model? I'm having no luck finding comments anywhere.
