    Hi all, i have a Satellite L455-s5975,
    win 7,
    Inetl Celeron900
    250 GB HD,
    2GB ram

i bought this laptop last November and was pretty happy with it until a few weeks ago when i noticed the fan started to stay on. then a few days later when i would play flash games, watch movies or run my anti virus/malware programs, the laptop would shut off without warning.

I downloaded Real Temp and saw that my core temp was way high. At idle the temp is between 50-55 degrees Celsius and depending on what i am doing, the temps will reach 100 degrees and then shortly thereafter shut off.

I have sucked out the little dust that was on the heatsink vents with a vacuum, but that didnt solve the problem. I then dropped it off to be looked at and and after explaining the problem to the tech, he said there was a good chance the heatsink isnt making good contact with the CPU or GPU.

A few days later he called me and said he had reseated the heatsink and reapplied the thermal compound several times and the temps dropped to 46-50 degrees cel in idle consistently, but the fan is still on full blast and the laptop is still reaching up to 100 degrees when the cpu was under load. So he thinks the heatsink is warped or just defective.

My question is this, is it common for Toshiba's heatsinks to go bad so quickly seeing that this laptop isnt even a yr old? Secondly, the tech informed me that if he installs a new heatsink and the temps dont drop to the normal range, then in all likelihood, the motherboard is bad. Is what the tech saying sound about right or not?
