I have a Toshiba Satellite ps 25 series. Recently i purchased an aftermarket ac charger as my toshiba charger was dead. I had not turned on this laptop for 6 months. With this new charger i can charge the batter to 100% with the laptop off. However if i turn on the laptop with the ac cord plugged in, when i check control panel it says on ac power, however the battery starts to discharge as if on battery. Also the orange light on the front comes on briefly when i plug in the ac and then goes out. The battery will then start to discharge even though the power meter says the system is on ac power.
Could this be a bad battery? Especially since i did not charge for 6 months

Run down your battery and see how long it lasts, or download a program and find out battery wear as reported by the computer (you can use NHC).
