for someone who will be using the toshiba mostly as a desktop replacement but will most likely be using it around the house, occasional travel is is the satellite fine for that? it seems like the satellite is comparable (analogy) to a dell inspiron then the tecra is like the latitude more for travel roadready etc. is this true? Also I was looking at the new satellites and tecra lines but none of them from the us site have available video card options which makes me sad :[

    satellite m100 has a 128mb ati x1400
    tecra a6 has a 128 nvidia quardo nvs110
    a100 i believe is listed as a x1400, but actually has a x1600 (not 100% sure)

ToshibaDirect.com has the new P100 customizable 17" laptop with available Nvidia 128 or 256MB video cards, and the A100 is a customizable 15.4" laptop that can have the X1300 64 or 128MB video card. The P100 will be much better for gaming than the A100 though, if that's a concern.

In Canada, at least, the A100 jh2 comes with the ATI x1600. Pretty good for gaming.

Yeah, the U.S. is usually on the back burner when it comes to dedicated video cards especially in Toshibas, Dells, and Acers. I think they should at least offer the option of the better video cards as an upgrade.

Yes for once it looks like they actually have a nicely configured machine, I just wish they a customizable version available with the 7900, that would rock, I like the specs except for the hard drive, it's huge, but I would prefer an 80 or 100GB 7200rpm drive. Oh well, ;)
