    Hi,

I downloaded the file driver_toshiba_value_added_package_v1.0.3.zip from Toshiba’s site, section "Toshiba support for Windows Vista", with contains various essential softwares (like power saver, button support, and others), but at the end of installation I receive the error "ID_ERR_NOTINSTALLTVALZ_MESSAGE" (I will try place a screen shot).

Anybody has successful installed Toshiba’s basic softwares? My notebook is a M115. Without these softwares the fn key is useless. I'm also unable to change the lcd brightness (for some reason, the Vista's brightness control don't work with M115, but work fine with my DV1000!)

    Regards.

I dont see the M115 listed on that page anywhere. You probably need to get the right version.

    Yes, that's right.

The strange thing is, with XP/2k, the same basic programs works to U200/M105/M115 and many others. But with Vista don't. Maybe the program will be the same, but the actual install don't allow different notebooks.

I'm switching back to XP and will wait for M115 specific/allowed drivers.

All other software and drivers installed and worked fine.
Everything worked marvelous, but the lack of power control (Vista's power center doesn't control display brightness, at lest in M115) and the lack of Fn key made the experience of Vista a little annoying.

    Regards.

Running into this exact same problem with my Toshiba A105-S2031. Seems like it runs into a problem when it tries to create the registry entries. I expect better than this from Toshiba...

I don’t know what is happening with M115 support.
Never got any update in download. The newest file in M115’s download section (any version of this model) is from September, when this model was released. So, we can say that this model NEVER have ANY attention from Toshiba’s support.
If you want newer and stable driver, you need to go directly to every component manufacturer. For instance, Intel has released several updates to WiFi card, Video and chipset driver, but none has figured at M115 downloads.

While the problem is the drivers, we can work around doing this annoying search , but the lack of updated software (like THotKey, which have problems with some antivirus software’s) it is inadmissible!!

The Windows Vista was released, and still without any driver or software for this particular model. With, again, let me think that Toshiba simple forgot the existence of M115…

I’m very disappointed with this "wonderful support", and will be very difficult to consider buy another Toshiba in the future. This model was released a few months ago and was already forgotten. I can imagine the nightmare for older models.

Alerting any one that is searching for a notebook right now: consider this lack of updated software, drivers and BIOS in a NEW MODEL, before purchase a Toshiba!!!

    Regards.

Have some patience, please. Vista just came out. I'm sure Toshiba will get the Vista drivers sorted out soon. They do specifically list the M115 as being Vista capable.

The problem isn’t only with Vista. Like I said at my previous post, Toshiba never update the M115 download site, even with several drivers updates from parts manufacturers.

I’ll love to be wrong, but I thinking that this model was "forgotten" by Toshiba. Which is very strange, since is a recent model.

It's weird, this is the only place I have found reporting this error.

Guess it's too soon, but I have two laptops that give this same error.

A new version of the value added package was added to the A100-105 download page, and it works beautifully. It's a lot more integrated with Vista, and the drop-down fuction key menu is very cool. And wifi power settings! I never had that in XP. I'm really liking this.

    Take it easy people!

Before starting to criticize Toshiba, try to install the more recent BIOS update...

Then install the new Vista software...No more error...And Toshiba isn't that bad... ;)

It's not that strange. Realize that each version of Windows has a version number that is usually kept hidden. After NT4, Windows 2000 was 5.0, Windows XP was 5.1, and now Windows Vista is 6.0. Windows XP was, in many respects, Windows 2000 with a fresh coat of paint.

That's not what I mean. Using your words, what I think strange in this incompability is the fact that U200/M105/M115 are all the same hardware, "with a fresh coat of paint." :D

The solution to my M115 was update the BIOS!

I had the same problem on my Satellite A105-S4164
I upgraded the bios and the problem is resolved - and by the way the new Function Key app is VERY nice.
I do now however get an annoying "Unknown Device" type of message. Windows cannot find the driver for this "unknown" device, either locally or via the web. I have no clue what this new "unknown" device is (hence the unknown nomenclature). Any ideas or tips would be most appreciated.

    hi,
I read in the forum that the error message installing Toshiba Value Added Package is solved upgrading the BIOS.
I have a M55-S329, i was seeking for the upgrade to BIOS 5.0 but I couldn´t find to this model I only found the upgrade for M55-s139. I know the differences between this models are the graphic cards, the s329 has an Intel card, and the S139 has an ATI. Do you think I can upgrade my S329 with the BIOS 5.0 for the s139??
