Hi all,
I'm trying to decide between the 1024x768 and 1400x1050 resolutions for my new Toshiba M400. I would prefer a higher resolution, so I can have more room to manipulate windows and so I can see more, aside from the obvious benefit of it being clearer, however, I am concerned that things on the screen will be just too tiny to see with the higher resolution. I find the 1280x1024 resolution on my 17 inch desktop LCD absolutely fine, and the perfect combination of size and volume of information I can see at once, however, the 1400x1050 resolution is a HIGHER resolution on a MUCH SMALLER screen (12.1 inch). So can anybody tell me, is it too small to work with? Can you maybe do some pixel math (as I don't know how) and tell me the size things will be relative to my current 17 inch monitor? Or else, just a subjective opinion will be fine. What I really want is to try it out, but you have to custom order it from Toshiba to get the high resolution, and Toshiba has a 15% restocking fee if you return it... so that's out. So hopefully somebody can enlighten me. Thanks a lot.
Jonathan

I would go for the 1400X1050 since it would look a lot nicer than the 1024X768. And if you do have any problems reading, you could always scale the resolution down to 1200X800 or lower.

I'd go for the 1400x1050 and then if you find it hard to read just bring the DPI up.

Im in the same boat... can't decide on an m5 with 1024x768 or 1440x1050
really don't want to get it and find the text is too small to read which it was on a 12.1" toshiba tablet I bought. I did up the dpi but then loads of stuff doesn't look right on the screen, web pages with fixed fonts, tool bars in office etc...
I agree with the original poster, 1280x1024 is great on a 17" lcd but I'd worry about it on a 14.1" :/ on a 12.1, there's no way I'd go for it again
