Anyone know why this is an issue? Toshiba 5205 s505, Bios 1.5. I don't know if that's the issue, but I recently upgraded from 1.4 and did several other things :(

Does it go into Standby mode when you close the lid? Just change settings to "do nothing when I close the lid". If your screen doesn't turn on when you open the lid (while notebook is working) it could be hardware issue - check the switch...

I recommend just setting it to hibernate when closing the lid.

What do you have it to set to go on when you close the lid (Standby, Hibernate, or Do Nothing)?

This happened to me last night. I set it to go into standby on lid close and when I came back after less than 10 minutes it wouldn't wake up. The power light was on and the fan was running but the screen stayed off. I had to shut it off and restart. I think this has happened to me with Windows XP before on my desktop. This could be a real problem if you had some unsaved work in progress.

Oh yeah I have the M100.

    Things to note.

I'm using the Toshiba Console, Toshiba Power Saver. It has hibernate support enabled. I also tried the do nothing mode and also no luck. When I open up the laptop the little lcd says wakeup, seems the rest of the machine minus the monitor wakes up.

I also did lots of spyware, ect... removal. Don't know if this could have affected the registry or other causing the problem.

I have also encountered this. It happened on a Satellite M40 (it is sitting on the table next to me). The screen doesn't turn on after waking it from standby, and when you hit "log off," the screen shuts off instantly while the notebook continues running.
Anyways, I just wanted to add to the book. Solution appreciated :)

Well after some legwork I found the problem. At least for my laptop. The culprit was the video card drivers. Unfortunately the 460Go drivers I was trying to use, 80's range cause an issue with hibernation. I had to revert to 46 series drivers :(

Originally I did this because I'm having issues with HD video playback. Seems I can't get the Players to work consistently and still haven't found a solution to this issue.
