    Hi folks,

Yesterday my screen went berserk in some kind of frenzy ASCII-code and colors. I was watching a movie while this happend, and I tried to reboot, but the same thing came on the screen.

It has happend before, but a reboot solved the problem. I left it the night over, but no magic had happend.

Is it my graphics card gone or is it some kind of 'loose' connection?

Is it fixable or will I do best buying a new laptop?

    Any advice appriciated!

    Søren

Yeah, I thought about how to describe it best, but here's two pictures instead.

When its finished booting, it seems like turning off, but the graphics is still displayed.

Hmm... Doesn't look like a latch up, so the panel itself is probably fine. Could be the LCD controller, interconnection or VGA card. And I wouldn't bet money on any option :s

Could it also be a dead chip? Where do I get such a graphics chip? I think it is a nVidia GeForce FX Go5200 with 32mb of RAM.

    And thanks Ice-Tea for caring!

And can anyone help me identify the chip? Is it the big one right next to the CPU? If it is how do I unlock it?
