I have a friend whos computer is having issues. Granted it's a 4-5 year ikd Toshiba Satelite. His screen works, you can faintly see the computer screen, but there is no light coming from it. The backlight seems to not be working. Is there any reason for this other then the screen is toast? He's wondering if there is a fix before purchasing a new laptop. Thanks for any help and suggestions.

Replace the backlight, or use an external monitor.

Thats what I thought, the display connectors looked fine, probably easier for him to by a new laptop. This thing is old and IMO not worth it wth the prices of a basic laptop falling these days
