I'm thinking about putting my X205-S7483 on ebay. What should I be looking to get for it? I paid $1400 and change last year this time. Any suggestions?

Thank you in advance for your responses.

It's too bad there isn't a used laptop guide similar to KBB or NADA for car prices! I tend to change laptops every at least once a year and it's never easy trying to figure out what my used one is worth and/or how to price it.

A good place to start would be checking Ebay to see if the same model has sold recently and, if so, the selling price. If you can find any X205's sold, that will give you a general idea of the ballpark price its' worth.

I checked out the specs on your model, it's has a lower-end C2D (1.66GHz T5450) but a high-performance graphics card (256mb nVIDIA GeForce 8700M GT)- it should appeal to a gamer on a budget.

How much longer is warranty in effect? Is it in like-new condition (no scratches, no visible wear)?

I bought an HP dv9000t back in 4/07 and paid $1450 for it. It had decent specs- 1.66GHz T5500, 256mb nVIDIA 7600M GS and dual hard drives. I sold it in 12/07 for $800 (it cost me $650 to have it for 8-months). I recovered 55% of the original purchase price.

My personal rule of thumb is to expect 50-60% of the original price within the first year. If you priced your X205 at 60% of $1400, that would be about $840...or 50% would be $700. You also have to think about what someone could buy today with the same amount of money.

The good thing about listing anything on Ebay is that you can set a Reserve Amount and the item won't sell if the bids don't meet or exceed that figure. Instead of having a starting price of $700, you could set the Reserve at $700 and start the bidding as low as $.01. That way it would draw the most attention from bidders but you won't be obligated to sell it unless the Reserve amount is met.

I'll quit rambling now....just thought I'd share since I've been in your position before and almost certainly will be again! Good luck with whatever you decide! :D

Thank you for all the input. i did check ebay but nothing has been sold. there are couple of sli5 and sli6 odels for sale. I think I would be happy if I got 850 for it. there are fine scratches (in and out of my backpack) but nothing on the screen itself. It still has the bioshock sticker below the keyboard area. I used it for night school and couple of games its great the only minus is being a desktop replacement laptop. its heavy :)

Yeah, the 17" desktop replacements seem like such a good idea at the time...and a few months later, you're kicking yourself for buying it! That's how I was with the HP dv9000t that I mentioned earlier.

I almost did it again this time around- I was seriously checking out the Dell Studio 17 and, even though it has a weaker graphics card, I talked myself down to the Studio 15 instead!

I think it's the numeric keypad that makes me think I want a 17" behemoth....my life is sad. LOL :D
