    Slow Startup

    Hey all, ive got a toshiba A70 2.8 ghz and ever since i bought it, the startup time is very sluggish. i timed it to be about 2 minutes and 17 seconds. whats wrong?? note that my laptop was the one on display for about 2 days, and i bought it.[ :D]

    some help appreciated TIA

    I'd help you since you helped me, but I really have no idea. I didn't think that was really slow for a bootup though because my desktop takes awhile too (it has a slightly slower processor than yours). I'll time it next time and see how long it takes.

    Did you do a fresh install of windows when you got the laptop? Did the company you got it from put any software on it for display purposes? Sometimes compaanies such as Best buy will put software on their display systems that could lower performance. You should always defragment your system after you install all programs and drivers--saved disk space with speed performance and startup time. Check the startup folder and deleat all unnecessary objects. Try clicking start>run then type 'msconfig' without the quotes of course and hit enter. Explore in the startup directory for objects you dont need to open at startup. That can save a LOT of time at startup. Thats all i can think of right now. Hope i helped. Good luck[ :)]
