    Slow log on (I mean Slow) with P300D

    Hi there
    I recently got a new Sattelite P300d 10y. I am experienceing super long boot up times.. somtimes its 15 mins before I get to the log on screen.. can anyone give me some advice.. is this Vista.. is this the laptop.. sorry for such an open question.

    Once the machine is up and running its great.. I have a Dual Core AMD 64 Athlon x2 processor and running Vista home Premeium 34bit..

    HELP !!!!!!!!!!!!

    I think you mean 32 bit :)

    If you just got it, it would be a good idea to reformat it (wiping the entire system clean and reinstalling OS and drivers). The system will run much better afterwards. If you don't want to do that, try uninstalling all the bloatware off - programs that you don't need but came with the system anyway. After that, go to Start -> All Programs -> Windows Defender -> Tools -> Software Explorer. You'll see all the programs that Windows tries to load as it starts up. Try disabling some programs that look like you don't need them.

    thanks . I check and the defender is switched of. aparently it was not activated when the install was done.. I guess I will leave it off
    any other ideas

    Well 15 minutes in unacceptable with a new machine... Even with the bloatware, you should get to the login screen fairly quickly.

    I'd say call Toshiba and demand it be serviced or replaced by a professional. This could be indicative of a larger problem, and it's better to just have it replaced by Toshiba now while you're still under warranty.
