I Purchased a Toshiba P100 about a week ago, and am having a problem running certain games.
When I run Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory with Shader Model 3.0 and all settings to high, it runs perfectly for a little while, then for no apparent reason it slows down to single fps. I can be in one room and will still eventually encounter the slowdown.
It is the same when I run the Condemed demo.
I don't experience these problems with Doom 3.
One thing I do notice is that I have never heard the fans running on high, in all the time I have had the laptop. I was wondering if there was a fan or performance setting I am missing or if there is a driver update that I should have.
Specs:
Intel Core Duo T2500
2GB RAM (667 Mhz)
Geforce Go 7900GS
120 GB (5400rpm)
Drivers are:
Forceware: 84.00
Video BIOS:5.71.22.08.19

What are the conditions the notebook is running in? Also, have you run your notebook for Spyware/Adware and have you run your upkeep utilities (defrag, disk check)?

I've run many different spyware apps, and i've noticed now that the fans do come on, just that they come on in 1 second bursts every minute or so. The slowdowns start when the fans start spinning on high, and don't stop until I turn the computer off and wait for it to cool down.
I am experiencing these problems on Oblivion as well.
I'm thinking it may be a heating issue, but i'm running it on a hard wooden table, and although i've read elsewhere about P100's getting hot, no one has ever mentioned a performance slowdown with it.
I'm thinking I might just use the recovery disk and completely start over, and if that doesn't work i'm gonna have to resort to customer service.
