    Hi all,
Well after reading the review on the A300(april's editor's choice), I made up my mind and got an A300 from toshiba's website(was choosing between a thinkpad, and an HP). Overall the machine spec's were ok. This configuration had a C2D 2.5Ghz(T9300) processor, a HD 3650 with 512ddr2 vram, 2HDD @ 5400rpm, 2GB DDR2-667 Ram. I can play Call of Duty 4 and other games like Crysis [Very playable with a combination of Medium and High Settings...Very High settings is not viable, gets very sluggish and slow but run somewhat then stops]. I recently upgraded to 4GB for the system ram, I choose DDR2-800[which was down clocked automatically to the DDR2-667 specs]. The overall windows rating is a 5.0 (with the harddrives being 5.0) not bad actually. The build quality was a little disapointing. The back of the laptop where the hinge is, has a small hard plastic sticking out, about the size of a small precision screwdriver head...brought it to the local authorize service center, and they suggested to cut it, according to them it's just some excess material. But told that I'd think about it. The battery is ok, in terms of machine fit and recharge life and stuff...it's ok. The Flex on the top of the A300's LCD lid when closed is not somewhat comforting (Made me wish I bought a thinkpad instead [watch the "Crash Test" video at the lenovo website to see what I mean] Oh well, can'nt have it all...) Overall the laptop's value for your money is Ok...the problem is a month or so later after I bought it, Toshiba comes out with the G50 and F50 line...darn it, If I only knew...DARN it. Well can'nt have it all....

What's the price? I feel pretty good about my A300-ST4004. Paid around $1200. No quad core, but pretty speedy.
