I heard that 3DMark scores are not a true indication of a notebooks true power. Have you tested the system out with any games? Games are the true test.

The benchmark scores are for a "fresh out of the box" unit. All manufacturer supplied software and drivers are still resident on the machine. As for the Call of Juarez Demo I got an error message trying to extract the file from the zip archive. I'll try and download it again today and run it later tonite.

I would imagine that performance would improce significantly once the machine is cleaned and optimized.

You better hope it does, or you got yourself a bad apple. Chaz got a score 500 points above that on his S9349! (see the review on the home page) New drivers and an hour of uninstalling the ridiculous amount of bloatware should do the trick. Then re-run 3dMark06. ^^

The 4734 score in the recent review for the x205-s9349 was obtained with non-default settings for 3dMark06. I'm not sure what settings were used in that test, but, if I change the settings so the 3dmark06 has the same resolution as the 3dMark05, then I get a score of 5261 for 3dMark06.

No DX10 games run well at the moment. There is still going to have to be some better drivers and optimization before we see anything really worth looking at.

yes, one of the highest end, next gen laptops must have obviously been extremely bad. The 8700M GT performs on par with the 7900 GTX (slightly worse) but as of now, DX10 has not been optimized and with future updates to the OS and direct X 10's software API, the performance will increase exponentially. i would imagine that the 8700M should (once the right drivers are there and the DX10 performance is worked out) get at least 20-25 FPS on default settings in Call of Juarez.
