I have had this computer for a little over three years now with no problems until now. The lcd screen works fine for about the first minute then 3/4 of the screen begins to flicker. This happens for about 30 seconds untils the same 3/4 of the screen turns black or whatever the main color that is currently being displayed.

Here is a picture to help explain:

When an external monitor is hooked up everything works fine so I am assuming that it is either my lcd panel or a connection to it. Is there any way of fixing it that does not require changing the panel?

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance!!!

I'm afraid not. If this was a loose cable, the entire screen would be influenced. So it's the tabs or the controller and that means: change the screen.

    are you sure?

I noticed that if you turn the brightness down, this problem seems to go away.

My problem is similar.. at full brightness, the display either flickers lots, or gets a redish tinge to it. On lowering the brightness, it seems to stabilize but still a slight redish tinge.

Any one else have some ideas? could it be the power inverter for the display?

Not the inverter; it wouldn't discriminate between zones of the lcd. I've experienced similar on an A15, works fine on external, but crap on the lcd. I've replaced lcd, inverter, both, cable, no change. Something inherent to this board which allows external, but the lcd signal buggy.
