    Hey guys

I (very stupidly) popped my PSP's Sony Pro Duo memory in my Toshiba A-105 card reader and it read the data as well. However when I tried touched the stick to pull it out.... it slid in! I had no clue the pro duo stick was much smaller than the slot.

I suppose, I should have atleast read the manual for what the slot can take... but now I am in a bad condition. I have a 4GB Pro Duo stuck in the deepest, darkest pits of my Toshiba's card reader. I really don't care about the **** memory reader slot as much as I do for the data on my memory stick!! It has hours of gaming material and family pics on it.

Once again, if somebody has heard/ faced similar issues here (although I doubt anyone beats this level of foolishness) but I am kindda desperate here. Is there a way to eject this stick or maybe someway to manually take it out by opening the bottom panel?

Help would be much much appreciated here.

    Cheers mates

Can u post a pic of how the problem looks like. Maybe you can get a needle and jab it into the mem card to hook it sorta then try and pull it out. :p

Option 1: go in with tweezers or very small needle-nosed pliers. have someone else point a flashlight in there so you can see

Option 2: completely disasemble the laptop

I was going to suggest a very thin pair of tweezers as well.

Is it stuck inside or is it loose? Is it being held tight by the connectors inside?

hey all, I have the same problem with my Tecra M7. Its stuck in there pretty deeply, tweezers didnt work just made the problem worse I think. I removed the keyboard to try to access the card reader but I cannot get to it from there. Any suggestions? Has the previous poster with the same problem figured it out yet?
    Any assistance greatly appreciated!

I had this exact problem with my Toshiba M55. I thought it would accept Duo cards but yeah, it doesn't.

Anyways, I tried for about an hour with tweezers desperately trying to get it out but to no avail. So I sadly gave up and went away and strangely enough when I came back, the card had come out of the slot enough for me to pull it out! Must have been a miracle or something! :p

STOP I think from above tweezers dont work.
I had the same problem aswel. All i done was turnt the laptop on the slide and hit it hard. It became loose. Then i got a needle and pulled it carefully.
    Lol

    Things we do..!

    Hope this helps

i almost did what maatt500 proposed. well luckily, i did not had pushed my duo card in my card reader...

card readers say they can read mmc, sd, ms and duo's... well duo's can be read using an adapter in the form of the MS... making it look like an MS so that you won't have to have a trouble getting the card. crappy huh?

i advice you do maatt500's... or maybe turn of your lappy, pull out the harddrive... then hold one side of the lappy with one hand, then do the hammer motion with the other hand catching it so that the duo card can be released (i hope). :) merry christmas

before you go messing all your contacts up with tweasers do the following.

Find an old butter knife and some double sided tape.
Affix tape to end of knife. Then use the taped end to push the card in as you would any other card to eject it. then quickly and carefully release the spring loaded ejection with the knife and hopefully after a few attempts the card will come out attached to the sticky tape on the end of the knife. Use the dullest knife you can find.

Mr. E Hz, in the name of all victims of Sony's villainous memory stick naming scheme, I give you my deepest and most sincere thanks for your brilliant method of MS Pro Duo extraction using only a butter knife and (of course) duct tape!

Or, in other words, OMG THAX MACGYVER :D

my memory stick is completely stuck all the way back in the reader. Will this knife thing still work in my case? Furthermore, where is the ejection spring that I can release, I cant readily see it because my memory stick is pushed back all the way.

    Thanks

I can now die happy! I've always wanted to be called MACGYVER at least once.
    Glad to be of service.

The spring mechanism is behind the card, where it should be. Just push the card all the way in and it should feel like you are compressing a spring, then let it shoot the card your way! :)

    I wouldn't do that.

On my A100, the SD Card slot is a simple slide in/ Pull out. There is no spring loaded latch like that on my Camera.

Fortunately we are talking about an A105 which has a spring loaded mechanism. This fix has worked for lots of us now, so don't think that it shouldn't work for you if you have an A105 series machine. The spring mechanism will be really easy to feel, so if it feels like you are pushing too hard, don't force anything. This is a better fix than tweasers or any thing that could potentially damage or bend your contacts inside the reader, which in turn could cause severe damage to not only the reader, but in the case of a short, it could fry more than that.

For a Pro Duo stuck deeply in my A100 card reader slot, I slid a MS Pro adapter into the slot open end first so that it enclosed the stuck card, then worked the adapter out with a quick side to side motion. Within seconds the adapter was out with the intact card inside.
