Well last night i performed my first CPU replacement surgery on a laptop, and i thought i would share some problems, tips, and suggestions. Well first of get a good guide. Regardless if your know how to do it or are comfortable with just taking out screws and taking everything apart, having a guide will help keep your screws in order. A great guide is located here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=179789

This is the guide i used and mainly because of all the pictures. My suggestion is to waste the ink and print out every picture if not the steps also. To prep your area get a large space and lay white printer paper or any white paper across it. This is so you have a high contrast with any falling screws and can get them before they hit the floor.

Now lay the pictures from the guide side by side, and as you take off screws lay them on the picture were you took them off at.

Also when you take out the back screws the only way to get them out of the holes is flip the laptop upside down. Because of this don't make the mistake i did i loosen them all up first.

The only other suggestion I've got it to watch out for the CPU fan connector. It is very easy to break trying to get it out. There is another connector near it made the same that is just as delicate. If you break it the individual wires can be slipped back onto the wire connection points. The order of the second connector is Blue Black Black Red. I know this form experience sadly.
