    Hi guys

I have this laptop toshiba tecra r840-s8450 with I7 2620m and ati radeon 6450m
i am trying to make it into kind of like a switchable graphic to save some battery juice and i believe the igpu would be intel hd 3000
does anybody know how to do it?

    Many thanks

Install AMD 12.11beta drivers and see if Enduro works for you.

EDIT: I should mention: I believe you're first supposed to uninstall both amd and intel graphics drivers. Then restart in safe mode and run driver sweeper and delete any leftover drivers (look up the driversweeper guide, i'm in a rush right now).
Then you install intel vga drivers and restart.
Then you install amd 12.11beta drivers and restart.

Enduro should "theoretically" work for you then (if my memory isn't faulty and hd-6000 series is actually supported).

    Hi sangemaru

Thanks for your response i did everything but when it came to the installing of intel graphics driver it said that your computer does not meet the system requirement i understand that my laptop did not come with switchable graphic display but do you think there is a work around for it?

If you can't see the intel gpu in device manager then it's not enabled or even connected to the screen.
So if you could enable it, you wouldn't be able to get it to show an image on the screen.

Yep i really cant see anything i have done some research on my notebook and it is only discrete gpu theres no option whatsoever to change it in the bios menu
but since its an intel processor there has to be some workaround for it to enable the igpu

Not necessarily. The r840 launched back in mid 2011; when switchable graphics was not yet "the norm" with most notebooks. I too have a Toshiba Sandy Bridge + Dedicated GPU laptop [from April 2011], and unfortunately I do not have the ability to switch over to my iGPU. Although the newer Toshiba laptops probably do have this ability.
There could be a work around, but I haven't heard of any yet.

I've completed a search of the r840, and every link I find state the r840 does not have switchable graphics. Sorry for the bad news, but now you won't have to worry about whether it has the ability or not.
