I Have A Toshiba Satellite (xp/sp2) And Have Experienced The Dreaded Blue Screen Of Death. The File It Referenced Was Connected To My Antivirus Program, Saying It Failed To Load. I Restarted The Computer In Safe Mode, Disabled The Antivirus, And Restarted. That Worked Fine For The Next Couple Of Boots, So I Left The Antivirus Disabled, Thinking That Had Solved The Problem. The Next Day I Turned The Computer On And Once Again Received The Bsod; However It Did Not Reference Any File, And Basically Said That A System Crash Had Occurred. I Restarted The Computer And Got The Same Bsod. After Booting Up In Safe Mode, I Checked The Event Viewer And It Referenced The Dvd/cd-rom Drive. I Went Into Device Manager, Saw That The Drive Had A Yellow Exclamation Point, Right-clicked On The Device, Then Viewed The Properties, Which Said That The Driver For The Device Was Missing Or Corrupt, And Suggested That I Uninstall, Then Reinstall The Device. I Did So, But There Was No Change. The Driver Had Been Listed In My Start-up Programs, But It Has Mysteriously Disappeared.....it Had Not Shown Up Even Before I Uninstalled The Cd-rom Drive. I Tried A Search In Windows Explorer To See If I Could Find The Driver There, But When I Typed The File Name And Hit Search, It Responded With "windows Explorer Has Encountered An Error And Needs To Close", And It Continued To Do That Each Time I Tried The Search. I Then Downloaded The Appropriate Driver From The Internet, But When I Tried To Install The Driver, It Said That The Target Device Could Not Be Found. It Seems I Need The Cd-rom Drive To Be Working Before I Can Install The Driver, But I Need The Driver Installed To Make The Drive Work.
Can Someone Give Me A Hand With This??
