The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    TEAC DW-224E CDRW/DVD-ROM drive - Toshiba Compatible?

    I have Satellite 5205-S503, with TEAC DW-224E (CDRW/DVD-ROM) drive that died a while ago. Looking for replacement, there are quite a few on eBay, but when I got one, it couldn't fit. Apparently, even if the model is the same, Compaq drives do not necessarily fit Toshiba. Here is a question: how to figure out from the model information whether that drive would fit a particular model of Toshiba? There is one seller that told me the drive was pulled out of Toshiba (but he doesn't know which one). Still don't know if that would fit the laptop I got? TIA.
