I have been browsing on this forum for quite sometime now and its my first time to post my own review on my new Toshiba notebook. I have planned and budgeted the cost and had gone down to my top 3, and thats Toshiba, Dell & HP, all in the 17" category. I finally took on Toshibas priced offer against dell e1705, for my budget was only up to $1400 Usd mx and Toshiba seems to meet my needs and the sum of my budget, so here's my intial review

There have been some post already on the Toshiba P200 series, i bought notebook through a colleage of mine at work and have him configured it online with the specs available based on what i like to have for the model P200-ST2071. The Pre-configured is priced starts at $798.15 Usd.

Im an average gamer and my line of work also requires a set of good hardwares for graphics and 3d modelling. anyway heres the customized configuration of my P200-ST2071

    Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor T7200 (2.00GHz, 4MB L2 cache, 667MHz FSB)
Genuine Windows Vista™ Home Premium 32-Bit
    1024MB PC5300 DDR2 667MHz SDRAM (1024MBx1)
    17.0" Diagonal Widescreen XGA+ TruBrite® display
    nVIDIA® GeForce® Go 7600 with 256MB dedicated graphics memory
    80GB HDD (5400rpm, Serial-ATA)
DVD SuperMulti (+/-R double layer) drive
    Intel® PRO/Wireless 3945ABG (802.11a/b/g)
    No Bluetooth
    Standard stereo speakers
    Li-Ion Battery (6-cell, 4000mAH)

    Also Includes:

Onyx Blue Metallic Lid Cover, Microsoft Office Trial Home and Student 2007 Edition (60-daytrial), Ulead® DVD MovieFactory® for TOSHIBA, Protector Suite™ QL by UPEK®, TOSHIBA ConfigFree®, TOSHIBA Security Assist, TOSHIBA Game Console, 5-in-1 Bridge Media Adapter, ExpressCard™ slot, 4-USB (2.0) ports, i.LINK™ IEEE-1394, TV-out (S-Video), 10/100 LAN port, V.92 modem port, RGB monitor port, Microphone jack (monaural), headphone jack (stereo), 1.3Mega Pixel Web cam with mic and finger print reader.

All in all the price went to $1,291.50 + tax...it landed to $1400 Usd.

its still new on my hands and still trying out some stuff on it. At a glance as of now, with relation to the new OS Windows Vista the notebook seems to perform well and got a high score of 4.5 total on the performance index of windows. For the Processor (4.9), Memory (4.5), Graphics (4.7), Gaming graphics (4.7), Primary Hard disk (4.9)

I've been running some games such as Quake 4 and halflife 2 with varying configs to see what this notebook can do and seems to perform well under Vista. I will update my review after a week to carefully see the pros and cons of this notebook with its current configuration.

For the Heat & noise, the notebook seems to be really quite even while playing some games in different configs. the fans at not even noticable while running.
