I did some searching and could not find an matches.

    This model http://www.toshiba.ca/web/product.grp?lg=en&section=1&group=1&product=9652&part=11370#spectop

Main question I have is the blu ray RE drive. If anyone has this one or a B-R RE equiv model, tell me what you think and how any 1080p footage is played on a PS3 after burned onto a blu ray disc.

Also, wondering about the 5400 rpm HD, wish it had a 7200 instead.

Is there software included to make blu rays or do you need software too. I have Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum E but still have lots to learn on PP video.

    I have this model

    MPX.no - Toshiba Qosmio X500-147 18.4" Full HD

I have not tryed any 1080p footage played on the PS3 yet, but the quality from the laptop itself playing blue ray is outstanding, i am very impressed. It comes with software included

OK, thanks for the info. Seems like you have the same version. It get so confusing what to buy when all these models come out... there is about 10 Qosmio's in the USA for sale... and none match up to here in Canada or other countries.

I will be learning how to put mp4 files from a Gopro HD camera and other HD video onto a blu ray disc.

Google and YouTube are your friends to learn how to do stuff but still wondering if I should get this laptop or just add a BD RE to my home computer. I am using laptop more and home PC less.

Yes seems its the same version exept my disks running at 7200.

Well if you use your laptop more and more why not buy a laptop with BD

Ya, home computers are dying out.... my brother said to splurge on my next laptop being a real high end one.

Well, if you're willing to spend +$2000 on a laptop, I'd be guilty if I didn't tell you to take a look at the Asus G73JW.

OK, I will read more on it.

Any pros and cons you can tell me? I see the price is better.

My 2 laptops have been toshibas and decently happy with them.

Asus G73JW-A1 17.3-Inch Notebook - Black (Personal Computers)
Bought directly from amazon it came in 3 days. Was pretty impressed.

Laptop is damn good for the price. Very quiet and cool, only have one game on it, battlefield 2, and I can play it on my lap with high settings without it getting too hot. Bought it mostly for the ram and multitasking processor. I'm definitely impressed with the sound too. I read a professional review that rated them as decent... But they put out pretty damn good I think. The touchpad is phenomenal, I've never used or seen a more responsive one.

Doesn't come with blu ray software for reading blu rays, you have to buy it, which was another 100 dollars for me. But really not a lot of cons, nothing even slightly bothers me about it. Pretty solid quality machine.

this true? What software is needed?

I see 8 Gb of ram and 2 7200 rpm drives..... this ASUS is one that I will read more on.

    Asus is a good name.

I found some in stock in my city for $1699 Canadian.

Think I might give one a try.

Answer to this comment would be great to know if this is true. Sounds weird that a laptop with a BD player / recorder can't read/play BD discs out of the box?

    I ended up buying a G73JW-A1 today.

Got it for $100 less then Newegg.coms price.

    I am in Canada.

Asus G73JW-A1 w/ Core i7-740QM, 8GB, 1TB, Blu-ray Combo, 17.3in Full HD LED, GeForce GTX 460M, Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit at Memory Express Computers

I will transfer my current HD footage on a older HD camcorder via 1394 to my home computer and now most of my HD cams are SDHC and CF and will hopefully enjoy the 3.0 USB port.

Thanks for the tip in this thread.... even the guy at the store said he had a Qosimo before and it got stolen and now has a ASUS and said it runs cooler and way better.

7200 hd, 8 GB of ram and 3.0 USB is nice.... and 3D video too.
