    Hello guys,

I have a Tecra A3-106, my card reader started not reading the cards in these days.. (I have recently formatted my system using the recovery dvd) when I put my memory stick into the drive i can see the card icon on my computer but when I try to access the content, I get an error saying ''Card needs to be formatted'' and I can't do anything... When I insert a different SD card, the reader doesn't even recognise it.. (As it used to access these medias successfully before)

I tried uninstalling the device then installing automatically but no luck, tried downloading the SD Secure Module but when I try to install it, I get an error saying ''SD Secure Module.msi cannot be located'' or something like that..

Long story short, I can't use my card reader and I have also checked these cards on a different system and they are readable.

What could that be? Any troubleshooting ideas are highly appreciated.

    Best Regards,
    Onur.

Maybe it's a corrupted file somewhere in the driver. When you uninstalled the drivers, were there any errors? There could be corrupted bits still interfering with its functions.

I didn't get any errors when uninstalling, even when uninstalling the device.. It is still a plug and play device in the end and I guess it should be working even with generic Windows drivers without having to do something...I don't know really.

When I insert my MS, I can see the Device icon on the systray (Can't access) but I cannot stop the device in order to remove safely either.

    Weird.

I'm guessing something got corrupted when you reformatted your drive. You may want to consider doing it again before you make a lot of changes.

Also, have you run something like CCleaner yet? I'm not sure if it would do anything, but it may be worth a shot as well.

We're talking about an external media reader right?

This is not an external drive, it is an internal drive under pcmcia slot.. Just a multiple slot i am talking about... Thanks for the tip on CCleaner, handy program...

    Still unsolved though..

Was it working right before you reformatted? You may consider doing it again.

Otherwise, it may be time to see what tech support has to say--they may have a fresh perspective on troubleshooting this issue.
