I posted a similar question in the Toshiba forum but unfortunately got no answer. I wonder if someone here could help me out.
I can get a relatively good deal on the Toshiba Tecra M2. I was really annoyed by the Cnet review (26/05/04) declaring that the keyboard “sags disconcertingly”. I know users here like the M2, but, still, Cnet is usually a helpful source.

Are there really problems with the keyboard? Isn’t it as solid as expected? Do you regard the M2 a good and reliable product?

Thanks in advance – this review makes my decision really tough.

Cnet and Notebookreview differ on many issues. The main one that comes to mind is with dell. A lot of Dells on Cnet get raings in the 8's, while dells are kind of looked down upon on quality and support of these forums.

I'm sure you already thought of this, but is there some way you could try out the machine before purchasing it.

Here is the PCMag review of the M2:

i have owned the s410 for a couple weeks now and i think the keyboard is great! if the cnet comment about it is the only thing that's holding you back from getting an m2, i say forget that. i've had a really good experience with it so far and it seems a lot of other users on here have had similar thoughts.
    good luck!

To your question, I've seen nothing but good things on the M2.

In general, I don't trust commercial review sites. There is always the stigma that maybe the publisher is getting paid something extra for a positive review. Also, I find that personal prefrences often get in the way of objectivity. People some times look at a product in the frame of how they will use it, not the public at large. I like sites like this; sites run by real people that use the products every day, not just for 1 month to write a review. I've found much more objective information here than any other site.
