Whilst windows (XP) boots up, I get a message requesting the installation of the fingerprint reader. This laptop has a fingerprint reader installed, but I have never used it.

Update to my question. I removed the battery and the problem fixed itself. Must note, this same problem happened a while ago, so obviously something that needs attention but still not sure what to do.

If you never use the fingerprint reader you can remove it from your start up. Go to Run in your start up menu type in MSCONFIG hit enter, then click on startup, remove the check mark from the box next to it click apply and okay, then reboot a small screen will show up that says you are in selective start up put a check mark in the box in the lower left hand corner click okay and you won,t see it again, your fingerprint reader will no longer load at start-up
