I'm seriously considering getting the R840 but I want dedicated graphics and SSD so I want to make sure it has HDMI and cannot find any information anywhere. It wouldn't make sense for it not to have HDMI but I just want to verify.
Thanks

Looks like the Tecras with the dedicated AMD GPU have DisplayPort instead of HDMI (I don't know why, they should have both); the Intel graphics Tecras have HDMI.
Spec sheet for Tecra R840-ST8401:

Toshiba site says Tecras has HDMI or Displayport:
Toshiba Tecra® R840 Laptop Series
ToshibaDirect, shows Tecras with Intel graphics have HDMI:
Toshiba Direct | Tecra Laptops & Notebook Computers
DisplayPort and HDMI are pretty much the same in quality, but DisplayPort is mainly for PC monitors, whereas HDMI is mainly for TV and home electronics.

So if you want to hookup a TV to your Tecra, either make sure the TV has DisplayPort or or get a laptop with HDMI.
But if it's for connecting to an external PC monitor (LCD, LED), then it will most likely have DisplayPort.
If you do buy the Tecra, make sure you get the 1600x900p screen upgrade.
Good luck -
Thanks for the reply, I found it weird when I saw the toshiba spec sheet that it said HDMI or Displayport. Those extra links helped shed some light on whether it matters. There's an adapter for displayport to hdmi so it doesn't look like it matters that much anyway.
I have another question: I currently have the Toshiba portege m700 tablet that is 12.1 inches. I use my laptop to take notes in lectures, will the 14 inch tecra be too bulky? I saw it's only an inch and a half longer than my current notebook which isn't much.
I wanted to go 13.3 inch but the Sony SA and Z didn't quite do it for me. I use an external monitor all the time and the SA's ports all on the right side turned me off (especially since I use an external mouse with the monitor). -
I got lucky and came across this article Toshiba Introduces Tecra R840 Notebook and it suggests that the R840 with dedicated graphics will have displayport instead of HDMI which is a shame but whatever. In the video it alo mentions that models with AMD Radeon will actually be discrete graphics to boost battery life.
I also saw someone asking about how the 9 cell sticks out. In the video the docking station has a big dip in it to accommodate the 9 cell bump and it looks like the 9 cell props it up at an angle instead of sticking straight out.
Tecra R840-ST8401 CTO HDMI?
