I own a Tecra S2. I recognized that the power socket of the machine, i.e. the one on the back side of the housing (not the power supply box), is not tight but kind of loose. The connector fits in very well but when attaching the connector the socket gives way (1-2mm approx.).
Is there anyone owning a device from the tecra series who can check if it´s the same with his computer ?
    Thanks.

    Greetings,

    Luke

I've found that some of their connectors are a bit looser than previously. This started to happen after Toshiba started out-sourcing their manufacturing. If it doesn't fall out by itself, then it should be fine.

Thanks for your answer, venombite. I´m sorry if maybe I didn´t express myself clear enough but the problem is: it´s not the connector that is loose in the socket but the socket being a little loose in the housing.
I cannot figure out if that is meant to help fitting in the connector easily or if maybe the socket has broken from the board that it´s soldered onto or something like that.
    Okay thanks so far.

    Best regards,

    Luke

Ah, I see what you mean. It depends on how much movement there is. Their new notebooks will have a bit of movement because some of their power connectors on the systemboard is no longer soldered directly to the board. It snaps into place and connected to the board via cables (less likely to snap off, which was a big problem in the past).

From what I can tell, this model has the seperate power connector. It's attached to the housing and connects to the systemboard via a cable. With these designs, they do thend to be a bit looser, so there's anything to worry about.

Thanks very much venombite - something like that was what I hoped. The computer is brand new and the movement seems most likely to come from a fastening as you describe it. Alright then.
    Have a good week -

    Luke.
