    Hi,

I'm juggling between the 2 subect laptops as potential options to buy and having been able to play with an M3 but not an S2, I have a few queries regarding the S2....

THe m3 seems great to me but Im keen on the extra screen size for the s2, hence my questions here of you all :)

The laptop I buy will be used primarilly at a desk and occasionally in lectures, on a plane etc. I do photo/movie editing, play games, word process and internet stuff.

    1. how much bulkier/heavier is the s2 than the M3???

    2. what is the 15" screen like on toshibas? I'm looking at the UXGA (1600x1200) under the presumption that stuff will be the same size roughly onscreen as for the SXGA 14" screen on the M3 (is that correct??). I play games, edit photos and sometimes work outside or with other so glare and view angle are important as well as colour richness. tried finding some reviews on the s2 but cant seem to find much on the screen.

    2. Overall build quality on the S2: is it as good as other toshibas?? what are the touchpad and keyboard like...

    3. does it come with a recovery partition or a disc with drivers and the OS?? I'm not a fan of recovery partitions...

    4. general feedback on either model. (A name of a store in adelaide or brisbane where I could view one would be swell :))

thanks in advance for any help :)

I have had my M3 for one month.

    I special orderd: 1.86/1GB Ram/60Gb 5,400/Nvidia 6200/CDRW/Intel B&G/Bluetooth/3 Years system guard.

2 weeks from order to delivery from China.

Yes, the fan runs often, especially when on full power. However this is totall configurable in the Toshiba power applciaiton, everything from screen brightness, to CPU speed to cooling is adjustable.

The track pad buttons are the WORST ever. They hurt, and provide zero tacticle feedback.

The bluetooth software is horrible compared to the WidCOMM software for my Logitech Mouse on my Desktop.

The keyboard feels good, but the Insert button is next to the space bar(watch what you are typing, you can easily overtype a few sentences) Other buttons are also misplaced.

The laptop is light, especially with the battery removed.

The case is VERY strudy, compared to the horrible creaky cases from Dell.

If battery life is important to you, go with the M3. You can get a modular bay battery which increases it a lot. However, if you want a widescreen, go w/ the S2.

You can change the size of your icons by going to Control Panel > Appearance and Themes > Display. So don't be worried about small icons.
