I was thinking of buying a Tecra S3. Does anyone own one of these or have any comments on why or why not to buy one? I would really appreciate any help or advice. Thanks!

What are you using it for? I'd say the Tecra line has overall better build quality than the Satellite lines. Look at getting the 6600 Go if you plan on any gaming.

basically everyhting,,,a little gaming, moving watching, and mostly work. I am a network engineer and like the fact it has a serial port on it. One less dongle to carry around. I have a Dell Inspiron 2100 now and I am worried about the weight and size but I am willing to go bigger for some features and power. Is this still the right choice?

I'd say it's a pretty nice choice. However, there may be more options available to you, such as the Dell 600m. You might want to consider posting a What Should I Buy Thread in the Hardware section after filling out the notebook FAQ. This way, we can give you more options. If you're intent on the Toshiba, and it fits your needs, then go ahead and get it. Pretty solid notebook IMO.
