I have a brand new Tecra M10-S3401. I had the store install XP. They installed SP3. All my other machines have SP2.

Unfortunately, I am doing a lot of work maintaining an old program, using Visual Studio 6. This works fine on the two other machines (with XP SP2) that I regularly use for this work. On the new machine, a number of things have been flaky.

The lastest problem came while I was not using any programming tools. In fact, I was simply doing some research on the web. (There were some other programs running, but they were inactive.) The first symptom was an L-shaped group of pixels that became solid grey. Then, everything locked up. I couldn't even get it to shut down. I finally pulled the battery and restarted.

Has anyone else seen anything like this? Are there known problems with XP SP3? (I didn't find any by Googling.) Are there known problems with a new Tecra running XP SP3?
