I'm slowly working my way down the list of things that could be wrong with my A15-S129. Mobo tested good. RTC battery good. Get a checksum error before OS loads and can go no further. So it's either the RAM or the HDD, right? Took out the HDD and got the same result. Tried Bart'sPE also. No go. Waiting on buying new RAM until one of you sages tells me I've got nothing left to try. Thanks for reading this.

use memtest86+. that will test your ram specifically. if you get errors after multiple runs, then it's most likely your ram. you can also get the hd diagnostic tool from your specific hd company to test out your hd.

If you have two RAM modules then you can try removing one. If that doesn't work then replace that one and remove the other.

I can't access BIOS. Period. Should I be able to if my RAM is bad? I've only got one stick, so I can't change them out. I've moved it to the other bay with no better result. Memtest didn't work either. Couldn't load from error screen. And without access to BIOS I can't change the boot order. Question: I should be able to access BIOS with the HDD removed, right? If I can't, then that would indicate a RAM issue, yes? If I can eliminate the HDD as the culprit here, then I am left with bad RAM, right? What the F*@$K else is there to go wrong?

Okay, bought a new RAM stick. Still can't access BIOS. What else could it possibly be? Anyone? Bueller? When I turn it on should the lights on the keyboard turn on momentarily like they do on my desktop? They don't, but I've hooked up a peripheral keyboard that does light up but I still can't get in to BIOS. This is becoming an obsession....
    1. New Motherboard
    2. New RTC battery
    3. New RAM

    Any other suggestions?
