Hi!
I'm experiencing a problem charging my Toshiba (Satellite A105-S4104) laptop and hope someone can help me with it.
The difficulty surfaced about a month ago. I'd charge the battery to its full extent, which would normally last 2.5 hours, and although the icon in the task bar indicated a level of 100%, it would drop to nearly half of that in just less than 15 minutes.
A week ago, I was forced to hold the adapter cord at a certain angle in order to properly charge the battery. Recently, beeping noises began to originate from the adapter body and now it doesn't charge at all.
So here are my questions:
Which requires replacement: the battery or the adapter?
and
Is this a common experience for someone who's only purchased this laptop a little more than a year ago?
Thank you in advance!

It's the adapter if you have to hold it a certain way for it to charge the battery.
It's NOT a common experience.
Hopefully you're still on warranty (assuming you got extended, or purchased with credit card), otherwise you'll have to buy another one. -
Well, it wouldn't charge at all afterwards even if I tried to hold the cord. I thought maybe a wire inside had snapped, but the beeping indicated a different signal... oh well.
Thanks for your input! -
What happens if you try to run the notebook without the battery? Does it randomly turn off or does it run alright? That's the quickest way to tell if you have a problem with your AC adapter or not.

Without battery? Well, I can't tell if it can do anything anymore because the battery level is currently 0 and the adapter is unable to charge it.
When I ran the laptop on battery (supposedly fully charged), it ran out of energy very quickly.
When I plugged the adapter back in, it would claim to have recharged completely but like I said, the rate at which it ate up battery energy was abnormally fast. Afterwards, it wouldn't even recognize being plugged in so it would continue on as if on battery-- thus running out-- which is why I cannot turn the laptop on anymore.
I am not very tech-savvy unfortunately.
Thanks for replying. -
If it is having trouble recognizing that it is plugged in, I would say the problem is in the adapter or the connector jack on the notebook itself. You may want to contact Toshiba about repairs if you are still under warranty.

All right, yeah, I'll do that. Thanks for your help again.
The battery... or the adapter?
