Looks good....let us know if you find an evern better price in the future. Battery life of "11.5hrs" looks outstanding, but wonder how much extra 12cell costs...?

PS: Currently debating between similarly configured:
Dell D500 at about $1K (dnag that overheating issue though!)
Fujitsu P5020D at $1700
Fugitsu P1120 at $1400
IBM X40 at $1500
and, what else? If I cant find the right one of this slightly higher end type, I'll just get a disposable HP Ze4610US with AMD-Mobile for $700 and be more or less done with it; 3.5hr batteryl life, maybe get second batt if reasonable.

 

I'm in the same boat you are--not sure which way to go. The Tecra M1 had everyting I wanted (serial port, firewire, wireless LAN, expandability) and was very highly rated, but now they're gettng hard to find, and when you do they're still about $2k or so, and a new M2 can be bought for less than that with LAN b/g.....I'm VERY impressed with Fujitsu, customer service is very important to me, and with a 3 year warranty and LIFETIME TECH SUPPORT (are you listening Apple?? This will be my first non-Mac computer in over 15 years!!!!!)I like Fujitsu a lot. I'm looking for something in the relatively thin-and-light category, and the Fujitsu Lifebook S-series is looking really good, but so does the E-series too (if only they had firewire.......)
But, at the moment I'm leaning heavily towards Toshiba because the new M2 comes with a 3 year warranty, and for $175 bucks more, you can get a 3 year "system-guard" warranty that covers ANY accidental damage for 3 years!!! That's right, if I drop it, spill coffee on it, etc. Toshiba will repair or replace it at no cost!!! That's less than 60 bucks a year for full replacement coverage--I don't think anybody else can beat that!!!

Im axing that budget pc idea...not worth it. And what was I thinking with looking at that cheap HP?...I have heard a number of poor things about them from friends of late (though I have a 4yr old desktop and never had a problem). Well that (cheap HP) had a AMD-M processor and looks nice, I guess thats why. But I WILL NOT buy any laptop with a flimsy screen backing...its just going to get damaged eventually. I want soemthing that will last....well, that will cost me twice as much...hmm.

Anyways, is the Toshiba website the only reliable place you can buy TECRA M2's?? Give it like 60days probably and it will be available, like any new product.

But I need a laptop like [YESTERDAY], ya know what I mean? And Im still looking, though not so anxious cause I know what characteristics Im looking for now.

Im going to stop by CCity and fondle that Toshiba W-XGA Centrino I posted about here a few days ago. Lots o real estate, nice combination of realestate, features, power, and 10hr battery life for $150 extra!

Hey is that cheap Toshiba Accident Protenction warrarnty only available if you buy directly from Toshiba, or only on that model?

I am trying to decide between the Toshiba Tecra M2 and the Fujitsu S6000. Does anyone here have any experience with the M2. I know that the Fujitsu S6000 seems to be rated well and I found some good reports on the Tecra M1 but there seems to be no reviews on the Tecra M2. I was also told that Fujitsu is coming out with a updated version of the S6000 in a few months. The biggest point for the Tushiba is that I can get the 3 yr accident protection warranty for $178 that Fujitsu doesn't even offer. Any suggestions as to which way I should go?
