    it freezes 5-6x a day
i'm just gonna return, it's not worth the hassle of getting it fixed.
i guess i asked for it when i bought it...

i'll probably have to check out the dell 700m or 6000, or some acer models.
anyone have recommendations under $1500 CND?

I'm sorry to hear that you're having problems with yout system. I guess I shouldn't be too suprised as other users seem to be having similar problems with this model. There was an "internal recall" on these units, if anybody brings it in for service on this problem, the top cover was to be replaced under warranty. For some people on this site, Toshiba either didn't replace the top cover correctly (or with the correct one) or their system locks had to do with something else. It may be best to return it and go for a different notebook.

The 700m is completely different than the A70, this is generally an ultra-portable notebook. If this is what you're looking for, you may want to consider notebooks by Asus or Fujitsu, I believe they have smaller units in that price range. You can checkout www.NotebookOutlet.ca they have some good deals on the Fujitsu notebooks.

    thanks for the tip Venombite.
I guess i wouldn't mind the 700m because i'm not really losing that much compared the the a70-KL1. Only the full-sized keyboard a screen. Maybe the graphics if i upgraded the memory to 1gb of RAM. Other than that, the 700m is quieter, much much lighter, will have a better battery life (i don't mind the 8-cell), and will have that nice screen with 1200x800 resolution screen. The 3.06ghz w/ HT technology isn't as impressive as it sounds. If they were both the same price the only reason to get the bigger one would be the graphics, but this one doesn't even have a dedicated one. I guess i've talked myself out of getting the inspiron 6000 hahaha. We'll see what happens.
