I have a friend who has a satelite a100 and its two months old. The problem is that the ladtop screen would go completely black and you can't see anything at all, but all the lights are still on. Also this started to occurred like last week and its still happening. The screen would go out every now and then. Can someone help me out on how to fix this for my friend?

    ~thanks

When the screen goes black and we plug in an external monitor it doesn't show up on the monitor. Keep coming up with the ideas tho!

It sounds like you've got a blown GPU - does your notebook have integrated graphics or its own GPU?

That just denotes his chipset, not his GPU.

    Hi,

I had a similar problem on my A100 with the screen becoming also solid red and orange (scary). That started about one month ago and repeated every week then. When rebooted, the laptop went back to normal.
I returned it to store where the screen had to be replaced.
