I recently bought two Toshiba 12 cell Li-ion hi-cap batteries (PA3400U) from toshibadirect. When I check either of the new batteries' information via winxp's power meter, it says the battery is a PA3399U (the oem standard battery that comes with the laptop). Have any of you other people with 12 cells noticed this? Not really a problem as the power does last longer.

Just making sure Toshiba's not putting a 6 cell batt in 12 cell clothing, I mean enclosure. ;)

Do you have a 6-cell battery? If so, just test its weight against the 12-cell (the 12-cell should be the heavier one). Its a crude way of testing, but it usually is helpful if their are only 2 types of battery cells available for a particular given notebook model.

yeah even if its 2 cell difference, you would be able to tell the weight difference right away.
With a 6 cell difference, you would definately notice the difference.

The 6 cell is the oem battery. Both my hi-caps are noticeably heavier, and last longer. I was wondering if other people have encountered the same situation. Thanks for the help, guys!
