Hello guys, Please Help me....
i'm gonna buy the toshiba satellite A300/M300 series for my audio midi programming projects, i already have the echoaudio audiofire 4 firewire. But for now i'm waiting for the montevina version.
According to most of the DAW user, they told me to use the 1394 TI chipset for compatibility and stability warranty.
There are some questions that i need to know the answer before i buy the notebooks:
1. what is the chipset in your toshiba
(santarosa platform) now? is it TI or ricoh or OHCI only
2. i saw there are lot of "OHCI" 1394 chipset on m300/A300 that was NAMED on the device manager, will it compatible with my firewire soundcard ?
3. What is the chipset differences between TI, Ricoh, OHCI.
4. Does OHCI provide good compatibility with my soundcards?
5. does OHCI equals to "generic" driver provided by microsoft? and 6. Can OHCI provide good compatibility and stability similar to TI chipset? AFAIK OHCI is the open standard that includes all the instructions sets that is used on 1394 protocols.
Sorry if i asked too much, because i really confuse with notebooks firewire chipset that never be mentioned on most manufacturer specification details
Before and after thank you very much
