Funcion keys have stopped working ...not a hardware problem as keys respond on an alternate hard drive....possible software conflict but how to repair???

Sometimes, function keys are dependent on an OEM program that is installed by your manufacturer - in your case, Toshiba.

Look into the drivers/software page of your Toshiba model number and see if there is any software that controls the buttons/Fn keys.

That might explain why one hard drive works and the other doesn't - one hard's OS has the program installed, the other doesn't.
