I am having a problem doing a full system recovery on my Toshiba Satellite 5005 using the discs supplied by Toshiba. Every time I try to use the discs I get a message "wrong machine" and I can't go any further. Any suggestions?

Did you have your systemboard replaced since buying the notebook or send it in for service? The reason why i ask is because the Recovery CD's prvided by Toshiba checks the BIOS for a specific code to make sure the Recovery CD's are run on the correct unit. If it finds a different code or doesn't find one at all, it'll fail. You may want to take it back to the place you got it serviced and have them re-program you DMI info (I believe that's what it is). It shoudn't cost you a penny because that's a requirement if any systemboard is replaced (Toshiba policy).

But, if you haven't replaced anything (systemboard), then you're gonna have to contact Toshiba and have them verify that these are the correct Recovery CDs. It's possible they included the wrong set with the unit, you can have them send a new set to you, but don't know if it'll be free (they might if it turns into a Customer Satisfaction issue).
