A friend of mine owns a Toshiba A100-635 to his full pleasure, except for the fact that he has been unable to burn any DVD. The DVD-burner in the notebook is a Panasonic (Mat****a) UJ-845. He tried several brands on several speeds. The burning procedure doesn't actually fail, the burning process just gets stuck at 99% or 100%. Waiting for over an hour doesn't finish the DVD.

Is this a known issue with this kind of DVD-burner? If so, what are the options of fixing this problem, firmware flashing maybe? Thanks in advance.

The Matsh!ta drive is not made by Panasonic (Matsush!ta). I have seen reports of problems with this brand of DVD writer though I have one in my A100-147 and have no problem with it.

I would try a firmware update by uninstalling the one already on the notebook and reinstalling the new or current one.

Would be worth a shot if I knew where to find new firmware.
