I've got a Satellite, Model A105. Lately, when the power cable isn't plugged in, and the computer is running on the battery, the screen intermittently flashes a white screen. Sometimes the screen stays white, and I have to restart the computer. The keyboard still works, as well as the hard disk (I did this by pressing a memorized combination of buttons that open up particular programs and checking the hdd light). I can restart blindly using the keyboard just fine. It seems that the problem lies only within the screen itself, no other component of the laptop.

Once restarted, the screen is fine.

This only happens when I'm running on battery power.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

Very odd, I had an experience with a toshiba where it would boot but no screen, this was due to faulty ram, apparently. Can you see the boot-up using an external screen?

Well, the boot-up is just fine - so far I haven't got the white screen until after windows is fully loaded. I have used an external screen, but not running on battery power only. Next time my pc whites out, I'll run over to the screen and plug it in (the video driver will auto-detect the new monitor). It might be a couple days before I test that out, though. Any other ideas?

So it happens after windows loads, hmm. Can you boot into safe mode and reinstall the video driver?
