    Hi:
First post on this forum. I inherited an A105-S101 with a blank LCD screen. The external VGA port works great so I'm assuming the GPU on the motherboard is good. I tried reseating the LCD cable connections, reseating the inverter connections, and updating the BIOS to 1.50 with no luck. It mentioned something about a rare blank screen issue for that BIOS update. Anybody else experiencing blank screen problems like this? No backlight or faint image on the LCD screen.

My next attempt will be to try a different LCD cable before looking for a replacement LCD screen.

Woah there definitely replace the LCD inverter itself before considering a new LCD, they are usually $50 or less and are responsible for 90% of black/blank screens.

There is usually a ghost image on the screen but not always. I have fixed 3 notebooks with this issue myself and you seem to be having the same exact problem, eBay usually has many of them in stock for decent prices.

    Good luck

That is a good idea about trying a new inverter before a new screen. I agree on that line of thinking. I'll check eBay on that. Thanks...

No problem, try a new inverter/cables then if all else fails it's probably the LCD backlight which ofcourse would require the LCD to be replaced.

Success!!! Got the new inverter in today. Installed it and booted with no display except on the external monitor. Fn F5 didn't seem to roll it over, but on restart the LCD screen fired up with a magnificent glow.

Remove TPwrMain.EXE from the registry. Usually located in HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Windows/Current Version/Run.

    Hi,

I have this same issue. I was trying to reformat the hard drive, stuck the disk in and reinstalled with the recovery disc I had made only moments earlier. Once the computer went off after using the recovery disc and the computer restarted the screen will not display any images. No boot up screen or anything. The power button comes on and the cd rom light blinks. If I put a disk in you can hear it spin up but still no images. Any help you can give me would be very much appreciated!
